At this point the democrat senators are grasping at straws. They know Alito will eventually be appointed and its driving them crazy, they can't stand it. It's actually kind of funny watching them scramble around trying to find something to pin on this guy. They're starting to panic.
The most frightening thing about all of this is the fact that W has been handed the opportunity to name yet another supreme court justice. For those of you that think this is the handiwork of God, you better start looking in the other direction; future generations are going to suffer for this.
Jesus, did anyone see Ted Kennedy? The Democrats might as well tie this guy up and torture him. I guess the Democrats are only against torture when it involves Arab terrorists, and not true Patriots like Sammy Alito.

Yes I believe this is the handiwork of God. It is an unbelievable opportunity for the MAJORITY of Americans to finally get the court back on their side.
Future generations, especially the unborn, may in fact be uncommonly blessed for this.

There is a quite simple reason that the "Liberals" want to ask Alito all these questions... It happens to be their Job. It is also their Duty, and any elected official in an advise and consent capacity, be they democrat republican or independant that does not ask the hard questions, no matter how politically charged or morally objectionable, is abdicating their responsibilities to their constituency, and in case you hadn't noticed, we are their constituency.
Sam Alito is quite obviously a practiced and well versed lawyer, whether he is a good judge or not depends solely upon your personal perception, I disagree with too many of his rulings to call him a good judge, but I expect many of you would disagree.
What bothers me most about the hearings to date, is the questions he avoids with legalese and proceedural explanations that comepletely ignore the intent of the question.
Anyone remember the Ginsburg hearings? Justice Ginsburg was proud of her politics and her past. She proudly proclaimed her ACLU ties and support for abortion rights. This type of honesty is why she was overwhelmingly confirmed even by those who disagreed with her politics. Alito on the other hand, expects you to believe he can remember the detailed minutia of every dissenting opinion he has ever made, and yet is unable to recall belonging to a racist and bigoted princeton activist group. This dishonesty and prevariacation by someone seeking a seat on the supreme court is appalling. I for one would happily accept him on the supreme court if he were to be honest about his idealism and his past. I cannot condone dishonesty in a high official, especially one who once seated holds his seat for life.
I have no problems with an honest man who I disagree with, (or woman for that matter) their honesty shows they will decide on the side of legality, you dont know what a dishonest man will do, and we need to keep that kind away from the reigns of power, no matter what their religious conviction.
Oh, and dear elisabeth, the Majority you speak of has been in control of most of the free world for the last 1500 years, we have them to thank for american slavery, the slaughter and subjugation of the native americans, and untold numbers of lynchings, sexual and mental abuse of children, and innumerable other crimes. Thankfully, none of us are a majority, we are individuals who do individual things, sometimes they are good things, sometimes not so good. Groups however, are sociopathic, and are easily led into mob violence, bigotry and racism, dont be a member, be an individual.
